MW2 Remastered Petition

Blast From The Past

Just two weeks ago a petition surfaced on change.org calling for a remastered, re-release of the Activision title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The goal of the petition was to reach a total of 150,000 signatures to bring this matter to publishing giant Activision's attention. The letter addressed to both Eric Hirshberg and Jason West, CEO of Activision and Infinity Ward respectively claimed it to be one of Activision's best games.

The author of the petition described the Modern Warfare 2 to be:

"Just a fun & enjoyable game that really gives you that nostalgia feeling. The guns, maps, kill streaks were just incredible."
However he goes on to describe the current plight of the already existing version, available on the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms:

"At the moment mw2 for the ps3 & xbox is just overrun by hackers."

Finally the author ends the letter with a final sentiment that they feel would be well received within the FPS community:

"If they remaster the game, sort a couple things out (e.g noob tubing) it would make a lot of people happy."
Subsequently the petition surpassed its goal of 150,000 signatures and currently stands at* 171,839 supporters. However, with the recent increase in skepticism and disenchantment surrounding the CoD franchise coupled with criticisms over annual releases; it seem unlikely that Activision would jeopardize future CoD title sales with a remaster.

The goal for this petition has been raised to 200,000 signatures, both Activision and Infinity Ward have yet to respond.
