 Ukie's Biggest Ever Student Game Jam

Not-for-profit video game industry trade body kicks off biggest student game jam yet.


The not-for-profit games industry trade body Ukie has kicked-off its biggest student game jam ever. The event kicks off nationwide today. The event has 14 teams and mentors from within the industry competing for the student trophy and Mentor of the Universe awards respectively.

The teams will pair up with a mentor from the industry to create a game in just 36 hours. The game will be centered around a theme that the organizers provide for the teams. The theme will be revealed just before the jam gets underway. Dr Jo Twist, CEO of Ukie said:

"The opportunity to work with industry professionals and start building a network whilst in education is invaluable for our students. We are committed to improving the skills pipeline from 8 to 80 and now that we have tax breaks for the industry, it is important to nourish our growing sector. Good luck to all the teams competing.”
The winning game jam teams game will be an exclusive pitch on the front page of Square Enix’s new project “Collective”, get six months free membership to Ukie if they go on to establish a studio and more unannounced prizes.
