Obsidian the development team behind great titles such as Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, are returning with a dark fantasy RPG title called Tyranny.

The company is returning in a partnership with Paradox Interactive to produce a brand new RPG, set in a fantasy world. This world has seen a great battle between good and evil, and evil has been victorious. The game focuses on a non-linear story, so as to let the player find their own place in the world and as has been popular in games like Tell Tales: The Walking Dead, Tyranny offers players questionable choices through-out the game as a way of muddying the moral decision-making waters.
Feargus Urquhart, CEO of Obsidian Entertainment, said:

"With Tyranny, we love the twist we’ve put on the world which started with the premise ‘What if evil already won?’ Coupled with that is our ongoing dedication to giving our players games full of choice and consequence. Games they can play not just once, but many times.”
Players will control a unit in the evil overlord Kyros' army. They will play as a sort of enforcer character to begin with, brandishing the ability to be the judge, jury and executioner of the common people. Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive said:

“We’ve been involved with Tyranny from the ground up, and are proud to be working with the Obsidian team on the creation of this unique world. This will mark a bold step for Paradox into the RPG genre, and we can’t think of a better partner to have for the journey.”

Tyranny is schedueled for release in 2016.
